Progressives tighten their golden grip

The Progressive Party halted the pending bill on change in the Central Bank by posting demands that have little to do with the bank.

In Icelandic politics you know elections are coming when the Progressive Party starts promising people money from the state.

This time they want everyone’s debts, individuals’ and businesses’ to be cut by 20%.

Which sounds good to everyone right now. But so did the Progressive Party’s promise six years ago of 90% home loans.

The means? Mad promises. The end? The Progressive Party keeps its golden grip on the Icelandic nation.

Why 20%? Why not 50%? According to Georges Soros the world is on the brink of a depression worse than the Great one anyways.
